Martin De Leon is a graduate of the Management Institute of Sam Houston State University and has had a long career in government, including law enforcement administration, and as a judicial magistrate, mostly in Aransas County. He is currently a private consultant in civil and criminal law advocacy.
He was born and raised in Aransas Pass and during the summers worked with his father who was a dock fuel man at Conn Brown Harbor, part of the family’s long history of involvement with the Texas maritime industry. One of De Leon’s sons is now a top-rated hunting and fishing guide in Rockport.
His civic involvements have included Lions Club International, Knights of Columbus, Rotary International, Little League Baseball, and the now-defunct People Organized for Development of Education Resources Committee, which awarded scholarships at Fiesta en la Playa. He has three children.
As a commissioner, De Leon has focused on professionalism, integrity, transparency, and openness to suggestions and new ideas. He is an advocate for a community-wide approach to improving our waterways, harbors, and beaches.
