About the Navigation District
The Aransas County Navigation District, a political subdivision of the State of Texas, exists to conserve and develop natural resources. This includes the navigation of inland and coastal waterways, the surface and submerged land deeded to it by letters of patent and acts of the Texas Legislature, and all other land and water resources acquired for the benefit of the citizens of Aransas County.

The ACND has more than 1,900 acres of facilities, including three harbors with 290 boat slips, five boat ramps and two kayak launch sites, nearly two miles of fishing piers, two fishing jetties, and 10 bait stands.

The Little Bay complex, which lies at the heart of the city of Rockport, boasts 25 acres of beach that is consistently ranked as one of the cleanest and best in the state of Texas. Its facilities include restrooms, one open-air and two enclosed pavilions, a large festival site, a protected ski basin, and numerous sculptures. It also contains nesting sites that attract numerous shorebird species.

On the commercial side, the ACND owns and manages marine and land sites for commercial businesses, government agencies, museums and aquariums.

We envision the government of the Aransas County Navigation District (ACND) as an efficient and effective provider of government goods and services — a government that is not only responsive to the will of its citizens, but also a government that provides leadership in helping determine the proper course for the future of our District and County.
